New RHOC Star Gina Kirschenheiter Files For Divorce After Alleged Cheating
Maybe it's because that last name is way too hard to spell?
The new season of The Real Housewives of Orange County hasn't even aired yet and the newest housewife Gina Kirschenheiter has already filed for divorce from her husband while they were filming the season. Her statement to Us Weekly:
“After careful consideration and deep thought, we have decided to end our legal marriage. With that said, we will never end our friendship and will forever remain family,” Gina said in an exclusive statement to Us. “We are dedicated to raising our children together in a happy, healthy loving environment. We will be navigating this difficult process with respect and grace for one another. We kindly ask for others to treat us with this same respect and grace at we move through this family adjustment. “
This is the first time I can recall someone getting a divorce while the cameras are rolling but it means HALF the cast of OC Housewives will be getting divorced in the upcoming season. She filed on April 2nd citing irreconcilable differences and is asking for sole custody of their three children.
Apparently they had problems when they lived in Long Island due to his commute to the city for work, however, things were better for the couple when they moved to Orange County but the show did take a toll on their marriage. She told Us:
“I think I did see it as an opportunity that would be good for us, ’cause we’re buddies, we’re friends, we’re just going to navigate this together,” she told Us. “And then when he couldn’t film, and he’s also away a lot, I think that it probably did have more of a negative effect on our relationship and made things harder. Now i’m basically going on this venture, and he’s not included and involved in it, and it creates even more distance than is already there.”
While this all seems very civilised and peaceful, the shady world of Reddit had this TEA weeks ago! On a thread entitled "what juicy info do you have on a certain housewife/franchise?" two separate sources had similar information on the situation.
One person claimed Gina knew her husband was cheating and she did the show to get back at him. He may be fired from his job because the company doesn't want people knowing where is works because the girl he's been cheating with works there as well. THAT IS JUICY! While this may not be the most credible source they did know that a divorce had been filed (twelve days before it was public), so it almost justifies the rest of their story.
Another source claimed to know about the impending divorce from being friends with her brother and met her at his wedding.
Like many Housewives who have come before her I think Gina was probably in a bad marriage and saw the show as an escape route and who doesn't love a woman getting back at her cheating husband. While this may be bad for her personal life it almost certainly ensures she'll have a second season on the show and I feel like you aren't really a Real Housewife until you've gone through your first public divorce.
The Real Housewives of Orange County premieres July 16th at 9/8c.
